Growing the Next Generation
And Jesus said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39
A Firm Foundation
At Spanish River Christian School, we seek to prepare students to follow Jesus faithfully and live out their Christian faith in contemporary society. We believe that true spiritual growth begins with a personal relationship with Christ and a daily reliance on Him. Our desire is for students not only to know God’s Word, but also to love it, apply it, and allow it to shape the way they think, speak, serve, and live.
Biblical truth is woven throughout the entire educational experience at SRCS. Through daily Bible classes, weekly chapel programs, classroom instruction, mentoring relationships, service opportunities, and schoolwide activities, students are encouraged to develop a biblical worldview and grow spiritually, socially, and academically. Our goal is to equip students to recognize God’s truth in every area of life and to live out their calling as Jesus followers.
Prayer is central to the life of our school. We believe that God hears us when we pray and that we are completely dependent upon Jesus for wisdom, strength, guidance, and grace. Prayer is incorporated into each classroom and throughout the school day as students and teachers pray together, bring needs before the Lord, give thanks, and seek His direction. Students are taught that prayer is not simply an activity, but an ongoing relationship with God and an essential part of following Christ.
Students are also encouraged to practice spiritual disciplines that help deepen their relationship with Jesus. These include reading and memorizing Scripture, prayer, worship, gratitude, reflection, service, generosity, and encouraging one another in faith. Teachers intentionally create opportunities for students to pause, listen, reflect on biblical truth, and consider how Jesus is calling them to respond. In this way, spiritual formation is not limited to Bible class or chapel; it is integrated into classroom learning, relationships, decision-making, leadership, and service.
Each year on the National Day of Prayer, SRCS sets aside time for a schoolwide Prayer Walk around our campus. During the walk, students pray for our school community, local and national leaders, friends and family members, and people and places throughout the world. This meaningful tradition helps students understand the privilege and responsibility of praying for others while reminding them that our hope and help are found in Christ.
Students also have a wide variety of opportunities to grow as Christian leaders. These range from classroom leadership positions in elementary school to National Junior Honor Society, study hall mentorship, student assistant roles, Student Council, and athletic team captainships in middle school. Through these opportunities, students learn that Christian leadership is rooted in humility, service, integrity, courage, and a willingness to follow the example of Jesus.
Praying Parents
Praying Parents is a volunteer ministry of Spanish River Christian School in which caring members of the SRCS family uphold our school and community in prayer. We are under the umbrella of the Parent Teachers Fellowship (PTF) and supported by the Volunteer Coordinator.
The mission of SRCS is to educate the whole child spiritually, socially, and academically under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
The mission of Praying Parents is to support the child spiritually, and to make asking for, receiving, and responding to God's blessings as easy and enjoyable as possible for the SRCS community, staff, and students.
This mission is accomplished by providing a structure that ensures that each student and family has a parent praying for them, and that each praying parent has a rewarding experience, whether praying with other parents, with students, or in their home.
